At the dawn of the ‘Global Age’ there were fascinating cultural meetings between Asia and Europe. Firstly through religion and later through trade individuals, ideas, cultural artifacts and music flowed between the continents. Recent research has revealed a depth of musical cross-currents. This concert presents music from the Ming and Qing dynasty China and their contemporary European courts in France, Britain and the Italian states, performed on the Chinese guzheng and the harpsichord.
