As part of an Art Workshop earlier this year, the children of St Michael's made an Easter Garden inside the church. Here are some of them with Sophie Cook and Mother Katherine Hedderly (right). Children are now invited to enter the Art Competition to create pictures for St Michael's Advent Calendar (see entry forms in church).
Family Service is usually held on the first Sunday of the month. The singing is led by the Junior Choir, the sermon is aimed at young people (often illustrated with cartoons by Sarah Lenton - right), and the lessons and prayers are read by children. On these Sundays, there is no Children's Church, although crèche facilities are available in the Parish Hall, and there are books for children at the back of the Church.
On other Sundays, children over the age of four process out of church during the first hymn. They have a short service of worship in the chapel and then move to the Parish Hall where they hear the Gospel of the day and then explore its meaning through games or artistic activities. At the end of the session, the leaders bring them back into Church to receive a blessing. Sometimes they give a presentation to the grown-ups.

The Children's Crèche is set up in the Gabriel Room in the Parish Hall for very young children. An art activity related to a Bible Story will have been prepared, and they will have a quiet time for prayers, ending with a snack before they are collected by their parents to go into Church for a blessing. Contact Kate Averre at the Parish Office.
The Breakfast Club is for young people aged 11 or over. They meet with the youth leaders at 10am in the Michael Room each Sunday, except for the first Sunday of the month. Over hot chocolate and biscuits, they take part in a topical discussion before going into Church to receive communion or a blessing. Those who play an instrument are encouraged to bring them along and sometimes they play and sing at the Family Service. Contact Vicki Tibbitts at the Parish Office.
