Children are very welcome at St Michael & All Angels. All ages are catered for, from babies and toddlers to teenagers, through our Creche, Children's Church and Breakfast Club - see Services for Children for details.

At our Patronal Festival the Children's Church performs its famous 'Skirmish', where the dragon is ousted from the church by a lively group of children, each acting the part of St Michael or his angels.

In the Christmas term, the children participate in our Remembrance Sunday service, making their own poppy wreath for the war memorial. Later, we pursue a lively Advent adventure to bring the children towards Christmas and, in 2006, held a very popular art event for the youngest children, making Christmas cards and decorations. We welcome the participation of all children - whether local or simply visiting family for Christmas - to our wonderful Crib Service, where we have been known to see nearly 40 little kings visiting the baby Jesus!

In the Lent term, Mothering Sunday is always our most popular event, the children collecting a posy of flowers to present to their mothers. Holy Week is the most moving and exciting season of the church calendar and the children follow the events of Holy Week from Palm Sunday; through their own short Good Friday Service which involves participation from even our youngest children; to helping to make the Easter Garden on Holy Saturday and, finally, celebrating the joys of Easter Sunday with the ritual blessing and distribution of easter eggs.

We hold an informal summer party for all three children's groups at the end of the summer term.
