We had some wonderful items in our live auction at The 24 Carat Ball in aid of St Michael & All Angels’ Organ & Parish Rooms Appeal. Thanks to those who donated them so generously and those who bid for them, and to our auctioneer, Adrian Biddell of Waterhouse and Dodd, for lending us his time and expertise. The items included:
A week in the south of France for up to seven people
A week’s summer holiday in a beautiful three-bedroom villa with pool (above), overlooking the Mediterranean, about 45 minutes’ drive from St Tropez. The villa is on a hillside, with stunning views, and the village with shops, restaurant and bar is a short walk away. Dates flexible in 2016 or 2017. Donated by Philip and Helen Wareham.

Kelvin Murray is an award-winning photographer who specialises in turning the ‘everyday’ into the extraordinary. He works mainly for advertising agencies and his skills are highly sought after, to bring ideas alive and make astonishing imagery. His work has been accepted for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery no fewer than seven times. His portrait of Oliver Simkin (from St Michael & All Angels, left) was one of these images.
Kelvin will set out to create a stunning portrait for you. This will involve coming to your home before the shoot to discuss what you’d like. He will then come back to your home and create an amazing image of someone of your choice. He will include an A2 and A4 print of the final image. Donated by Kelvin Murray.
A week in Piegaio Basso, Tuscany, for up to seven people
A week’s holiday in the foothills of the Appuanian Alps, 22km north of Lucca in Tuscany. This light and airy villa is close to a food shop, butcher’s, chemist, restaurant and bar. Donated by Richard and Marilyn Seal.

A week in a seaside cottage in Carteret, Normandy, facing across to Jersey
Would suit a family of up to 6, or two couples. The three-bedroom cottage is small but delightfully situated, with back and front gardens, on a landscaped estate. It faces straight onto trees and sand dunes – and is just 20 minutes walk from the fishing harbour in Carteret and two wonderful beaches. Carteret is a beautiful sailing and fishing resort, with a ferry to Jersey and a range of bars, restaurants and hotels. It has a bakery, grocery and newsagents, a cinema, a weekly market, mini-golf and a lighthouse! It is close to the town of Barneville, which has its own market, several butchers and bakers, a chemist and a Carrefour. Carteret is just 45 minutes drive from Cherbourg, which is 3 hours by Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth, during summer months. Donated by Carol and Torin Douglas.

Themed children’s birthday party
Take the stress out of organising your child’s birthday party – Miriam Morris and Vicky Brooke will do it for you. We will organise a party for up to 20 primary-school-aged children. You will provide the venue and refreshments for adults. We will design the invitations, provide food and drinks for the children, fill the party bags, and organise traditional and themed children’s games. (Please note we are not entertainers.) The cake lady will provide a themed birthday cake. And we will tidy up for you afterwards. Previous party themes have been Spiderman, a spy party, Minecraft, Lord of the Rings, football and One Direction. The party must be on a weekend during term-time. and in or around Chiswick.
