An exhibition of works by (mainly) local artists of all ages. All works are for sale. A third of the proceeds will go to the Festival charities. Green Days Fete
& Craft Fair

Our traditional village Green Days fete has attractions for all the family with Dodgems, Fairground Rides, and a Bandstand - the focus for live music and other events.

Sir Peter Blake will officially open the Festival at 11am on Saturday. He'll also be speaking about his work on Monday June 14th (see below). His work forms part of the Tate Britain Sixties retrospective starting on June 30th.

Sunday 13 June Bach by Candlelight The West London Bach Consort and Players - conductor Sandy Burnett - continue their Bach cantata cycle at St Michael’s. The perfect end to the razzmatazz of Green Days.

Monday 14 June Peter Blake in Conversation

Acclaimed leader of British Pop Art (designer of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album sleeve), Sir Peter Blake will talk about his love affair with the ephemera of popular culture and his recent bronze sculptures on Blackpool’s new sea defences. Illustrated.

This event is supported by Oliver Bonas, Turnham Green Terrace.

Thursday 17 June Poetry and Motion

Award winning local poets Anne-Marie Fyfe (winner of the Cardiff International Poetry Prize) and Cahal Dallat with readings by actor John Rowe. From Homer’s Odyssey to Larkin’s railway poems. Bring your favourite travel poem (max. 40 lines) to read yourself, or have it read by professionals, enjoy an entertaining quiz and live music from far-away places.

Thursday 17 June to Sunday 20th June Artists at Home The annual Open Studios scheme in Chiswick, Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush takes place during the Festival. Over 40 artists are exhibiting in a range of disciplines, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, textiles and papier mache. Details and illustrated guide available at: www.artistsathome.net.

Studios are open on Thursday evening from 6 to 9pm and from 11am to 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday Afternoons Opera Lectures The 11-week series of Opera Lectures by Barry Jobling continues in the Parish Hall during the Festival. Barry is a professional pianist, singer and conductor and illustrates the lectures with recordings and his own playing and singing. The lectures run throughout May and June, from 2.00 to 4.15pm, and cost £8 each. Thursday June 17: Puccini’s La Boheme. Thursday June 24: Britten’s Peter Grimes. Part of the proceeds will go to the Festival good causes. Details: 020 8995 4271.
Friday 18 June Friday Night Jazz
Modern Jazz with the Sandy Burnett Quartet. Sandy Burnett, bass-player, is back with another evening of accessible, adventurous modern jazz. He is joined by the distinctive saxophonist Martin Hathaway; tyro award-winning pianist Leon Greening; and distinguished guitarist Phil Lee. This mixture of jazz talent promises an intoxicating cocktail. The evening is sponsored by WestSide Magazine. 7.30 for 8pm

Saturday 19 June Musical Mayhem

St Michael’s Junior Choir (ages 6-14). A celebration of The Musical in song and dance – including songs from Annie, Oliver,My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, and West Side Story.

Thursday 24 June Shylock Goes Global Actor and director, Gareth Armstrong, played three characters in The Archers, but forsook Ambridge for a world tour of his one-man show, Shylock. Previewing his new book, A Case for Shylock – around the world with Shakespeare’s Jew, he shares the joys and perils of being a roving ambassador for the Bard. 7.30 for 8pm.

A Play for Children
Karen Gillingham director, Sarah Lenton scenario, Jane Lenton dialogue. Help us tell the story of The Fall of Troy.We have three actors, a director, a golden apple and a Trojan Horse but we need gods, goddesses, soldiers, sailors and sheep. International concert pianist, winner of many prestigious prizes including the Rachmaninoff Prize, Peter Bithell plays Debussy Preludes from Book I.
