Reception, with wine and music. Traditionally the preview party gives the Festival a flying start. A delightful opportunity to buy pictures, meet friends and listen to music on the eve of Green Days. (NB we cannot accept credit cards). Wine and soft drinks on sale.

The Bedford Park Summer Exhibition

 

An exhibition of works, mainly by local artists of all ages. All works are for sale and a third of the proceeds go to the Festival charity, St Mary's. The poster for this year's exhibition is by William Bowyer RA. The original artwork will be raffled during the exhibition. Raffle tickets on sale during exhibition opening times. The exhibition is supported by The Green.
Opening Times: 10.30am–6pm daily, except Sunday June 8: 11.30am–6pm. Please note: the Exhibition will not be open on Saturday June 14.

Sunday 8 June Bach By Candlelight The West London Bach Consort and Players - conductor Sandy Burnett - continue their ambitious Bach cantata cycle at St Michael's with an exuberant Festival programme featuring three richly-scored and vibrant works:

Monday 9 June Summer Serenade . . . David Juritz, leader of the London Mozart Players, violin, Andy Brown, viola, Paul Edmund Davies, flute, Caroline Dale, cello, play Beethoven Quartet in Eb Major Opus 127 and music for flute and strings. Wine and soft drinks on sale

Thursday 12 June The Sea, The Sea An evening of poetry, on the theme of ships, shores and seafarers, led by local poets Cahal Dallat and Anne-Marie Fyfe, with readings by actors John Rowe and Sharon Duce. Bring along your favourite poem (read it yourself, or have it read by a professional) and enjoy a highly entertaining quiz over a glass of wine or soft drink. St Michael's Hall, 8pm

Friday 13 June Friday Night Jazz
Modern Jazz with the Sandy Burnett Quartet
Sandy Burnett, bass-player, is back with another evening of accessible, adventurous modern jazz. He is joined by the distinctive saxophonist Martin Hathaway; tyro award-winning pianist Leon Greening; and distinguished guitarist Phil Lee. This mixture of jazz talent promises an intoxicating cocktail.

This is the story of little orphan Annie, a popular American cartoon. The story takes place during the depression. This production is supported by Letts Educational.

Monday 16 June Taking Dance to Television Choreographer and movement director,
Geraldine Stephenson, takes her audience on an entertaining journey through her life in dance. A pioneer of dance for television, her credits include The House of Eliott, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Vanity Fair, War and Peace and countless others. She has also worked with the Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Royal Opera House. Talk illustrated with video clips.

Wednesday 18 June Adventures in Theatre, Film and Television Simon Curtis, director of the BBC's award-winning David Copperfield and Man & Boy (filmed locally) talks - and takes questions - about directing actors like Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Hugh Grant, Maggie Smith, John Malkovitch and Miranda Richardson, for the screen and the theatre. Celebrate today's publication of the fifth Harry Potter book. Wizard readings, games, quizzes, and refreshments.

Saturday 21 June Last Night of the Festival Starring Ian Belsey baritone and Kevin Morris Vicar, with members of the Parish, in a light-hearted evening around the piano. Songs by Michael Flanders (who lived in Bedford Park) and Donald Swann, and others, ending with Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and other patriotic ditties. Song sheets provided.

A tour of the key architectural features of Bedford Park led by local architect John Scott. Meet in the Vicarage Garden, or the Church if wet. The walk will finish at the Church Hall where cream teas will be served.
